Thabo Moloisane has made his intentions clear at Naturena. The 26-year-old defender wants to end the club’s long wait for silverware this season.
Since joining in July, Moloisane has quickly established himself in the backline. He has already played in the majority of the team’s matches. Speaking ahead of the upcoming clash against Stellenbosch FC, the defender emphasized his main ambition: winning titles.
“A star, guys, it is needed here at home. We have an opportunity to see if we can do it this season, and the league, of course. It is one thing that has gone past us for a long time and, for me, in my first season, I just want to get as many trophies as I can,” Moloisane told media.
The Wider Context: Pressure and National Ambitions
Kaizer Chiefs have not lifted the league title since the 2014/15 season. For a club of this magnitude, a decade-long drought creates immense pressure. New signings are immediately tasked with restoring past glory.
Moloisane’s objective extends beyond club success. He is also targeting a return to the Bafana Bafana national team. However, competition for national team spots remains fierce.
- High Exposure: Playing for a high-profile club increases visibility for national selection.
- Consistency Needed: Solid performances in key matches are essential to convince selectors.
- Long Journey: Moloisane noted that the queue for national selection is long, requiring continuous hard work.
Analysis: Can Moloisane Deliver?
Joining a major club brings both high visibility and extreme scrutiny. While playing at Naturena puts Moloisane directly under the spotlight, maintaining top-level defensive consistency will be crucial. His desire for trophies aligns with the expectations of the supporters. The coming matches will test whether this ambition translates into silver silverware.
