Relebohile Mofokeng is officially the man of the hour in South African football. His recent performances have done more than just excite the fans. They have now solidified his status as a frontrunner for the PSL Footballer of the Season award.
The PSL recently confirmed the monthly accolades for March. For the second month in a row, the Relebohile Mofokeng has been named Player of the Month.
A Clinical Month for the Buccaneers
Mofokeng’s standout moment came during a dominant 6-0 victory for Orlando Pirates against TS Galaxy. He netted the first hat-trick of his career in that fixture.
This clinical display took his league tally to seven goals for the season. More importantly, it helped the Buccaneers reclaim the top spot on the Betway Premiership table. Such consistency from a young player suggests a level of maturity that is hard to ignore.
Success for the Brazilians
The awards were not exclusive to Soweto. Mamelodi Sundowns FC also saw their leadership recognized. Coach Miguel Cardoso walked away with the Coach of the Month award for the second consecutive time.
Cardoso has successfully revived the Brazilians’ title defense. Sundowns currently sit just one point behind Pirates. Crucially, they have a game in hand, which could see them leapfrog their rivals soon.
Other Notable Mentions
The Goal of the Month award went to Ayabulela Konqobe. The Chippa United star earned the nod for his spectacular long-range strike during a 2-2 draw against Magesi FC.
The domestic league is currently on a break for international fixtures. Action is set to resume on 7 April, where the title race will undoubtedly heat up again.
According to a report by kickoff.com, the battle at the top of the log remains the primary narrative as the season enters its final stages.
