Success in football is often measured by goals and clean sheets. However, endurance remains a vital asset for any squad. Staying fit and maintaining high performance over long stretches requires exceptional stamina.

According to stats compiled by thesouthafrican.com, three players lead the Premier Soccer League in total minutes played during the 2026/2027 campaign.

The Top Endurance Performers

At the top of the list, three players have logged 720 minutes across eight matches:

  • Ronwen Williams has played every single minute for Mamelodi Sundowns FC.
  • Defensive midfielder Vusumuzi Mthabela has matched that duration for newly-promoted Milford FC.
  • Centre-back Olwethu Cele has also achieved 720 minutes for Milford FC.

Milford FC’s Sifiso Mdluli follows closely behind in fourth place with 706 minutes. He was taken off in the 76th minute against Richards Bay FC.

How Other Stars Compare

Other notable players across the league have also accumulated significant playing time:

  • Sipho Chaine is joint-fifth with 630 minutes over seven appearances for Orlando Pirates.
  • Centre-back Lebone Seema has featured in every league game for the Buccaneers as well.
  • At Kaizer Chiefs, Inacio Miguel leads the squad with 607 minutes on the field.

Players from high-flying AmaZulu FC have also maximized their time on the pitch, contributing to their strong start in third place.

Rotation vs Stability

Heavy match schedules force top teams to balance squad management and consistency. Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns face demanding fixtures across the PSL, CAF Champions League, and Carling Knockout Cup.

In contrast, clubs with fewer mid-week commitments can rely on settled lineups. While rotation helps prevent injuries during congested months, consistency remains key for building momentum.
