AFCON Betting Odds

AFCON Betting Odds per Country

In the 2024 AFCON, the best teams from the continent will participate for the title. Below, you can view some of the leading favourites heading to the Ivory Coast next year.

AFCON Betting Odds per Country

Senegal

As the 2023 winners, Senegal will enter the 2024 AFCON as one of the biggest favourites. The Lions of Teranga stunned the 2024 tournament and won their first-ever titles. As a result, the West African nation will be determined to hold on to their status as winners.

With key players like Sadio Mane, Iliman Ndiaye, Nicolas Jackson and Idrissa Gueye, Senegal have one of the most talented squads entering the 2024 AFCON. In particular Bayern Munich star Mane will be an essential player. He scored five goals during qualification and is the nation’s highest-ever goalscorer.

Ivory Coast

Ivory Coast are likely to be among the AFCON favourites. The Elephants are the host nation in 2024, which could give them a slight advantage heading to the tournament. In the last AFCON finals, Ivory Coast won two and drew two of their matches. However, they were eventually eliminated on penalties by Egypt after a 0-0 draw.

Strong players like Nicolas Pépé, Eric Bailly and Maxwel Cornet will be expected to perform well in front of a home crowd in the upcoming AFCON.

South Africa

South Africa will play in their first AFCON finals since 2019, when they reached the quarter final stages. Bafana Bafana also had a strong qualification. The nation finished top of their group that also contained tough opponents like Morocco and Liberia.

South Africa have not won the AFCON title since 1996. Also, since their first and only tournament win, Bafana Bafana have never progressed past the quarter final stage. But with top players like Percy Tau, Lyle Foster and Bongokuhle Hlongwane, South Africa will be confident of pushing on this time around.

Morocco

Morocco come into the 2024 AFCON as one of the big favourites. The Atlas Lions stunned some of the best teams in the world at the 2022 World Cup. Eventually, Morocco reached the semi-finals after beating Belgium, Spain and Portugal in the World Cup.

Morocco has one of the most talented and experienced AFCON squads ahead of the competition. Players like Achraf Hakimi, Youssef En-Nesyri and Hakim Ziyech play for top European sides. As a result, the Atlas Lions will feel confident going into the 2024 AFCON.

Although, the North African nation will need to improve on recent AFCON outings. Morocco has not won the AFCON since 1976. Since then, their best finish was in 2004, when they were runners up to Tunisia.

Egypt

As the most successful team in AFCON history, Egypt are always likely to perform at the competition. The North African nation had a flying qualification and they won five of their six matches to finish top of Group D.  In addition, Egypt have won the AFCON a record seven times and came runners-up to Senegal in 2023.

One of the Pharaohs most important players is likely to be captain Mohamed Salah. The Liverpool striker scored twice during qualification and is the nation’s all-time leading scorer with 49 goals.

But Salah’s Egypt teammates also have plenty of experience that will make them a big threat at the 2024 AFCON. Players like Mohamed Elneny and Trézéguet have lots of international quality.

Cameroon

Another team with huge previous success in the AFCON is Cameroon. The Indomitable Lions last won the competition in 2017 and finished third in the 2023 edition. Overall, the African nation has won the tournament five times, second only to Egypt.

Moreover, Cameroon were impressive in qualifying with two wins and a draw from four matches. Some of the standout players for Cameroon were striker Vincent Aboubakar and forward Bryan Mbeumo, who contributed three goals between them. But high quality players such as Bayern Munich’s Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Napoli’s André-Frank Zambo Anguissa could also play a starring role.
