Former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana star Doctor Khumalo has taken on a major executive position in South African football governance.
Safa president Danny Jordaan confirmed that Khumalo is the new vice-chairperson of Safa’s technical committee.
According to blog.hollywoodbets.net, Khumalo will work alongside Jack Maluleke, who was reappointed as the chairperson of the committee.
“I spoke to him, and he is quite happy to serve on the technical committee of Safa,” Danny Jordaan stated.
A Transition to Football Administration
Khumalo remains one of the most iconic figures in local football history. He played an instrumental role during Bafana Bafana’s memorable 1996 Africa Cup of Nations victory.
For years, fans have called for former professionals to take leadership roles inside Safa House. His inclusion brings valuable pitch experience and tactical insight directly into the federation’s technical decision-making processes.
In his new position, Khumalo will collaborate with national team coaches, including Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane, on crucial football matters.
Wider Leadership Restructuring
Khumalo’s appointment comes alongside several key leadership confirmations following Safa’s elective congress, where Jordaan won against AmaZulu FC owner Sandile Zungu.
- Linda Zwane and Anastacia Tsichlas retain their posts as Safa vice-presidents.
- Tankiso Modipa of the Western Cape joins them as a new vice-president.
- Premier Soccer League (PSL) chairman Irvin Khoza continues as an ex-officio vice-president.
This mixture of seasoned administrators and former players could help bridge the gap between executive management and elite football development.
