Bradley Grobler Sets Sights on PSL All-Time Goal Record

Stellenbosch FC

Veteran striker Bradley Grobler has extended his career by signing a one-year contract with Stellenbosch FC.

The 38-year-old forward was contemplating retirement due to injuries. However, advice from his family convinced him to play another season.

This decision opens the door for Grobler to become the highest goalscorer in Premier Soccer League history.

The Race for the Top Spot

Grobler currently sits third on the all-time list with 128 PSL goals. He is just six goals behind former record holder Peter Shalulile, who tops the charts with 134 goals.

Shalulile recently left the local league to join Tanzanian club Young Africans. This departure leaves the path clear for Grobler to claim the record without competition from the Namibian star.

Here is how the top of the PSL scoring charts looks:

  • Peter Shalulile: 134 goals
  • Siyabonga Nomvethe: 129 goals
  • Bradley Grobler: 128 goals

Reunited with Gavin Hunt

The move brings Grobler back together with head coach Gavin Hunt. According to his father, Les Grobler, this relationship will be vital for managing the veteran’s workload.

Speaking to soccerladuma.co.za, Les expressed full confidence in the move. He noted that Hunt understands Bradley’s capabilities and will manage his fitness effectively following last season’s injury setback.

Les encouraged his son to chase this rare milestone rather than step away early. Achieving the record would allow him to end his career on a major high.

Whether Grobler reaches the target remains to be seen. However, his move to the Winelands gives him every opportunity to make South African football history. For more insight into local football action, check out the latest updates on bettors.co.za.
