Willy Moloto has officially resigned from his position as head coach of Polokwane City FC. He confirmed the decision directly to Soccer Laduma.

Moloto took charge before the current campaign began. He stepped in following the departure of Phuti Mohafe. Mohafe previously moved to Marumo Gallants FC, though he has since left that role.

Moloto has dealt with serious health challenges over the past two months. He spent time in the hospital after reportedly collapsing following a Betway Premiership fixture against AmaZulu FC in September.

Assistant coach Mkhuseli Sentane managed team duties during Moloto’s absence. Moloto explained his choice to step down. He stated that he needed to prioritize the team and focus entirely on his recovery. He spent nearly two months away from the squad.

After a match against Siwelele FC, medical staff booked him off for ten days. He confirmed that he is currently feeling stronger. Before joining Rise and Shine, Moloto served as an assistant coach at the University of Pretoria.

Sentane will remain in charge as interim coach while the club searches for a permanent replacement. The upcoming international break gives management time to find a new leader.

The club currently sits in 11th place on the Premiership table.
