According to data reported by kickoff.com, the Tshwane giants have significantly increased their overall squad market value following an impressive transfer window.
A Steady Rise to the Top
Sundowns brought in six high-profile signings during the current transfer period. Antonio Van Wyk, Cassius Mailula, Siyanda Ndlovu, Deano Van Rooyen, Thabo Cele, and Thabang Matuludi have all joined the team.
These additions have pushed the club’s total market value to €41.6 million (R778 million).
This marks a steady upward trend for the club:
- 2024/25 Season: Squad valued at €37.70 million (R705 million).
- 2025/26 Season: Valued at €38.55 million (R721 million) after adding Nuno Santos, Reisinho, Fawaaz Basadien, and Tsiki Ntsabeleng.
- Current Season: Surged to R778 million after six new marquee arrivals.

Domestic Rivals Fall Behind
In contrast, local rivals struggle to match this financial weight. Orlando Pirates, who recently ended Sundowns’ eight-year domestic league dominance, hold a squad value of €22 million (R411 million).
This is nearly half the value of the Sundowns squad. The Buccaneers experienced a notable decrease from their previous title-winning squad valuation of €32.6 million (R610 million). Key departures, including transfers for Relebohile Mofokeng and Mbekezeli Mbokazi, contributed directly to this decline.
Kaizer Chiefs trail even further behind:
- Previous Valuation: €18 million (R340 million).
- Current Valuation: €16 million (R303 million).
Superiority Beyond South African Borders
The financial dominance extends far beyond domestic borders. Sundowns now boast a higher squad valuation than traditional North African powerhouses. Egyptian giants Al Ahly currently stand at a total squad valuation of €36.78 million (R688 million).
Furthermore, AS FAR Rabat—who lost to Sundowns in last season’s CAF Champions League final—held a squad valuation of just €15.4 million (R288 million) at the time.
