Midfielder Sipho Mbule is thriving in his new environment and looks set to prolong his career abroad.
His agent, Mike Makaab, confirmed that the former South African league star will not be returning home anytime soon.
According to a report by soccerladuma.co.za, Makaab revealed that Mbule will stay overseas beyond the expiration of his current one-year contract at the end of the season.
A Fresh Start in Iraq
Mbule made the move to Iraqi outfit Zakho SC to revitalize his career. So far, the transition has yielded positive results for both player and club.
The midfielder has featured in almost every league fixture this term. He has recorded one goal and one assist while establishing himself as a vital component in the center of the park.
His overall game has evolved significantly. Mbule is displaying improved work rate, physical fitness, and tactical versatility.
He has transitioned into a more complete box-to-box midfielder. His ability to carry the ball, press defensively, and distribute over long distances has made him a standout performer.
Broader Context and Transfer Prospects
For players seeking to reinvent their careers, moving to emerging Asian and Middle Eastern leagues has become a viable strategic pathway. Mbule’s success in Iraq demonstrates how a change of scenery can reignite a player’s physical and mental trajectory.
Makaab noted that Mbule was named man of the match in his recent outing, highlighting his peak fitness levels and happiness at the club.
While his current deal expires at the end of the season, consistent performances could open doors across the Middle East or Europe.
Prior to his move to Iraq, Mbule built his reputation playing for top domestic sides such as Mamelodi Sundowns FC and Orlando Pirates. Staying abroad remains the main objective for the player’s management team.
