Kaizer Chiefs have officially announced the signing of free agent Elias Mokwana.
The 27-year-old Bafana Bafana international has completed all necessary paperwork to move to Naturena. The news was reported by blog.hollywoodbets.net.
A Return to South African Football
Mokwana returns home for the first time since leaving Sekhukhune United FC in 2024. His abroad journey included a stint in North Africa and the Middle East.
During his time with Tunisian giants Espérance Sportive de Tunis, he helped secure a domestic League and Cup double in 2024/25. He recorded three goals and two assists in 25 appearances across all competitions. He also scored in the 2024 Tunisian Super Cup final victory over Stade Tunisien.
His efforts with Espérance earned him a spot at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. Afterwards, he spent the 2025/26 season on loan with Saudi Arabian side Al Hazem, featuring in 24 Saudi Pro League matches.
In an official club statement, Kaizer Chiefs welcomed the KwaMhlanga-born winger to the Amakhosi family as he dons the Gold & Black.
Strategic Perspective
Signing a player of Mokwana’s caliber brings proven international experience to the squad. His background in competitive foreign leagues adds versatility to the attacking line.
This move reflects a deliberate effort by the club to rebuild using tested talent. Free-agent signings often carry lower financial risk while offering immediate quality to the starting lineup.
