Edson Castillo is finding his rhythm once again. The Venezuelan midfielder has returned to his homeland to play for Carabobo FC.
Castillo left Kaizer Chiefs in July 2025. This followed the expiry of his two-year contract at Naturena. His departure marked a significant transition in his professional career.
A Challenging Transition
Finding a new club was not an immediate process for the midfielder. Castillo spent six months without a team. During this period, he was heavily linked with a move to Asswehly SC in Libya.
While reports suggested a deal was in place, the move never materialized. This period of uncertainty ended in January 2026. Castillo decided to return to the Venezuelan top flight, signing with Carabobo.
Rapid Impact at Carabobo
The move has proven to be a masterstroke for his individual form. Castillo has quickly become a pivotal figure for his new side. He has featured in eight of the nine league matches for which he has been available.
Across all competitions, his statistics are impressive:
- Appearances: 14
- Goals: 3
- Assists: 1
Analyzing the Output
Castillo is currently producing results at a much higher frequency than he did in South Africa. During his tenure with the Soweto giants, he recorded seven goal involvements over 41 matches.
At Carabobo, he has already reached half of that output in just 14 games. This resurgence suggests that returning to a familiar tactical environment has benefited his style of play. He is once again operating effectively in his preferred central midfield role.
The player’s ability to bounce back after a long period of inactivity reflects a high level of professionalism. For more insights into player movements and updates, visit our news section.
