Mamelodi Sundowns FC are focused on an immediate response following a setback in cup competition.
According to Soccer Laduma, the Pretoria side suffered a 1-0 defeat to Lamontville Golden Arrows in the first leg of their MTN8 semi-final at Lucas Moripe Stadium. However, left-back Aubrey Modiba stresses that the team maintains a strong culture against consecutive defeats.
Sundowns shift their focus back to the Betway Premiership on Wednesday evening against AmaZulu FC at Loftus Stadium.
Focus Shifts to Domestic Campaign
Maintaining momentum in domestic league action remains the priority for the squad. Modiba highlighted the importance of separating cup results from league ambitions.
“Playing AmaZulu is never easy. Right now I think we need to shift our focus to the league game,” Modiba told the Sundowns media department. “We take the loss against Arrows, but we take the positives in that game going into the Betway Premiership because it’s a different competition compared to MTN8. You know at Sundowns we try to not lose consecutive games. We are going to try our level best to bounce back and collect points.”
Home Advantage and League Standing
Sundowns aim to build on their previous league fixture, where they secured a 2-0 win over Marumo Gallants FC.

“It’s important to do well at home because if you collect as many points as possible at home, you stand a good chance of doing well in the league,” Modiba added. “We know AmaZulu is a good team, but we have a good team and the coaches will put up a team that will do well on the day and hopefully we get maximum points.”
