The ongoing transfer saga surrounding Seluleko Mahlambi continues to generate headlines in South African football. Kaizer Chiefs have shown strong interest in the young winger. However, TS Galaxy FC interim coach Esau Mtsweni insists the player remains fully focused on his duties in Mpumalanga.
According to reports on goal.com, Mtsweni held private discussions with the star to clarify his mental state amidst persistent rumors.
“As far as I know, with Mahlambi, he’s okay. He’s focused, and he wants to be here,” Mtsweni stated.
The R4 Million Offer and Valuation Gap
The situation gained public attention when TS Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi discussed the negotiations on Metro FM. Sukazi confirmed receiving a formal R4 million offer from Amakhosi.
The Rockets rejected the proposal. The club values their prized asset closer to the R10 million mark. This creates a significant R6 million valuation gap between the two sides.
Mahlambi earned this price tag after an impressive breakout campaign. Rising from the DStv Diski Challenge, he registered six goals and six assists in 36 appearances last season.
Current Struggles and Relegation Worries
Despite his huge potential, Mahlambi is experiencing a difficult period. His individual form mirror’s the team’s broader collective challenges:
- 0 goals and 0 assists in seven appearances this season.
- TS Galaxy sit 13th in the Betway Premiership table.
- Early cup exit after a Carling Knockout Cup defeat courtesy of a Wandile Duba hat-trick.
Mtsweni noted that Mahlambi’s recent dip in output is not necessarily related to transfer noise. However, the player must regain his form to keep his career on an upward trajectory.
Will Amakhosi Return in January?
The January transfer window presents a major turning point for all parties involved. Chiefs remain keen on securing offensive talent. However, TS Galaxy have made their position clear regarding their valuation.
For the Rockets, securing top-flight survival remains the main priority. They will need Mahlambi back at his clinical best to climb away from danger.
Whether Chiefs improve their offer remains to be seen. For more insights on upcoming PSL fixtures, check out our latest predictions on bettors.co.za.
