Al-Ittihad is reportedly preparing a move for Congolese winger Glody Lilepo. The Libyan side is currently led by Rulani Mokwena. Mokwena previously coached Mamelodi Sundowns FC and Orlando Pirates. He is very familiar with the talent playing in the South African top flight.
As reported by citizen.co.za, Mokwena has requested the Al-Ittihad management to pursue the winger. The club is expected to table an enticing offer once the season concludes.
A High-Impact Player at Naturena
Lilepo joined Kaizer Chiefs in January 2025 from French side Valenciennes FC. He quickly adapted to the local game. In his first 15 league matches, he scored six goals.
His performance has remained consistent this season. He has already contributed eight goals and three assists in all competitions. These statistics have made him a key figure for the team.
Lilepo’s current contract is set to expire in June 2027. However, reports suggest the club is ready to listen to offers for the 28-year-old. From a strategic perspective, this interest from North Africa highlights the increasing market value of players within the Betway Premiership.
North African clubs often look for proven goal-scorers in the COSAFA region. Lilepo fits the profile of a winger who can transition into different tactical systems. It will now be up to the Chiefs management to decide if the offer meets their valuation.
