Madrid can ill-afford to continue making too many more mistakes. They are aiming to reclaim the La Liga crown which they won last season. Madrid should fully impose themselves in the first half and score at least one. In the second half, Espanyol will be forced to try and play more attacking football and this is where Madrid could find a second goal against the run of play. Modric may be beyond his prime but through his spatial awareness, he can still unlock Espanyol’s defence with his calmness and composure alone.
