PSG has secured its dominance in French football by clinching its fifth consecutive Ligue 1 title, marking its 14th overall championship.
The team, led by Luis Enrique, defeated Lens 2-0 with goals from Kvaratskhelia and Mbaye, while goalkeeper Safonov played a crucial role in maintaining the clean sheet. With 74 points, PSG is now uncatchable at the top of the table with only one round remaining in the season.
This latest title further cements PSG’s supremacy, a rise largely fueled by the transformative investment of Qatar Sports Investments since 2011. Before this era, the club held only two national titles.
The squad now shifts its focus to the Champions League final against Arsenal, scheduled for May 30 in Budapest, as they aim for their second European crown.
Despite the loss, Lens has enjoyed a remarkably strong season. They have already secured a spot in next year’s Champions League and are preparing for the French Cup final against Nice on May 22.
Historically, PSG now stands alone at the top of French football, further distancing itself from Saint-Étienne’s record of 10 titles.
