The Brazilian national team had high hopes of achieving great success at this year’s World Cup, aiming to compete for the ultimate gold. During the group stage, the team performed fairly well – after a draw against Morocco, they secured commanding victories over Haiti and Scotland.

In the Round of 16, they faced Japan and managed a dramatic late win with a 2-1 scoreline. However, their journey was cut short in the Round of 8 by Norway, a team that proved stronger than the Brazilians.

The final result was far below the expectations for a dominant force from South America. Although Carlo Ancelotti had extended his contract prior to the World Cup to remain at the helm until 2030, questions about his future naturally arose after such a disappointing outcome.

The Brazilian football federation has since made its decision regarding him – Ancelotti will continue as head coach. The Italian manager himself expressed his willingness to stay, ensuring no changes will be made in the coaching department.

Ancelotti will remain in charge of the Brazilian national team and is now tasked with rebuilding fans’ trust. It appears that a fresh approach is needed, with a new squad likely to be developed centered around Vinicius Junior, who stood out as one of the few bright spots during the World Cup.

The focus now shifts to preparations for Copa America and the next World Cup campaign. Ancelotti has been working with Brazil since May 2025, managing the team in 17 matches to date, with 10 of those ending in victory.
