Mandla Ncikazi has addressed the speculation surrounding his departure from Orlando Pirates. The veteran tactician has chosen to remain quiet about his relationship with head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou.
Ncikazi recently made a surprise return to Lamontville Golden Arrows. He insists that internal club matters must stay behind closed doors.
Professional Ethics at Golden Arrows
Ncikazi took a firm stance regarding rumors of a breakdown in his relationship with Ouaddou. The 57-year-old coach traded his assistant role at the Buccaneers for the head coaching job at Arrows.
Media asked him about his exit following a 1-0 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns FC in the Carling Knockout Cup. Iqraam Rayners scored the decisive second-half goal for Sundowns.
Ncikazi emphasized professional ethics over public curiosity.
“Guys, for the future, as a principle, and as a man of my age, you don’t talk ill of your former employer because you offend them,” Ncikazi told journalists.
His statement reflects a commitment to managerial discretion and loyalty.
The Toilet Analogy and Internal Responsibility
Ncikazi used a direct metaphor to explain why he will not reveal internal challenges.
“Equally the same, when I start talking about my former employers, I’m offending my current employer. Every house has got a toilet; as a man, you don’t have the responsibility of telling every family that there are challenges in your family,” he said.
He emphasized that coaches hold significant responsibility to protect their club’s environment.
“In every club that I worked for, there are issues, but I don’t publicly speak about them. As a coach, you are the CEO of the company, so protect the environment,” Ncikazi added.
Restructuring the Team in Durban
Ncikazi is focused on stabilizing Arrows during a turbulent period. The team struggled under Pitso Dladla, who spent just three months in charge after replacing Manqoba Mngqithi.
Ncikazi started his tenure with a strong 4-0 victory against Chippa United. However, a league defeat to AmaZulu and the cup exit to Sundowns highlight the work ahead.
His priority is improving consistency in the Betway Premiership. Navigating team dynamics quietly remains central to his approach.
