Frustrating draw for LOSC against Nice: Lille loses victory in the final seconds after an equalizing goal by Louchet.

For the 11th day of Ligue 1, LOSC had to settle for a frustrating draw against OGC Nice. While they seemed on their way to a precious victory after Mitchel Bakker‘s goal in the 65th minute, the Mastiffs were caught up in the final seconds of added time. In a last-ditch effort, Tom Louchet equalized for Nice in the 95th minute with a free kick. Lille was deprived of the much-anticipated three points.

Bakker’s goal: a fleeting hope

The match, intense and contested, swung in Lille’s favor at the hour mark. Mitchel Bakker, the Dutch defender, found the back of the net, giving Lille a precious lead. The Mastiffs seemed in control, capable of managing the pace of the end of the match against a Nice team desperately seeking an equalizer.

A bitter draw for Bruno Genesio’s men

Bruno Genesio, LOSC’s coach, did not hide his frustration after this unexpected outcome. “I’m not angry about the length of added time, but because we lacked maturity at the end of the match,” he told DAZN. He highlighted his team’s lapses in concentration, which offered Nice an “unexpected last chance” at the very end of the match.

Nice holds Lille: a result that benefits competitors

This draw prevents Lille from climbing the standings, stalling the Mastiffs in their ascent towards the podium. LOSC is currently fourth in Ligue 1 with 19 points. The Eagles, meanwhile, gain an unexpected point, consolidating their fifth place in the Ligue 1 standings.
