Kobamelo Kodisang is facing a difficult crossroad in his career. Currently, the winger is on loan at Stellenbosch FC from Mamelodi Sundowns FC. As the season finale approaches, his chances of returning to the parent club appear to be fading.

Kodisang returned to South African football in January. This followed a stint with the Portuguese side AVS. However, breaking into the starting line-up in the Western Cape has proven difficult. He is currently competing for minutes against inform players like Devin Titus and Langelihle Phili.

Competition at the Brazilians

According to a report by soccerladuma.co.za, indications suggest Sundowns are unlikely to include him in their 2026/27 squad. The competition for attacking positions at the club remains incredibly high.

The Brazilians recently strengthened their squad by signing Monnapule Saleng in January. Furthermore, the club has been linked with Siyanda Ndlovu from Golden Arrows. There is also the potential return of Thapelo Maseko from a loan spell in Cyprus.

A Potential Fresh Start

This level of depth leaves limited room for Kodisang to reclaim a spot. Analysts suggest a permanent departure or another loan move may be necessary. This would allow the former Bidvest Wits winger to find regular playing time elsewhere.

His struggle for form at Stellenbosch has complicated his path back to the Sundowns first team. A fresh start could be the best solution for all parties involved. The next transfer window will likely determine if he remains on the books at Chloorkop or seeks a new challenge permanently.
