Kaizer Chiefs recorded their second consecutive win in the Betway Premiership. They earned a 2-0 victory against Sekhukhune United at the FNB Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The Amakhosi bounced back following a surprising exit from the MTN8 over the weekend. With this victory, the club returned to the top of the league standings with six points from two matches. You can check the latest standings and form guides on bettors.co.za.

Quiet First Half at FNB Stadium

Chiefs controlled ball possession early in the opening half. However, they struggled to create clear goal-scoring opportunities. Forward players Langelihle Phili and Etiosa Ighodaro found few openings against a compact defense.

Sekhukhune United FC threatened occasionally on counter-attacks. Despite this, Chiefs goalkeeper Brandon Petersen faced very little trouble.

The visitors suffered a setback right before halftime. Vuyo Letlapa picked up an injury and left the field. Mokibelo Ramabu came on as his replacement before the whistle blew for a 0-0 scoreline at the break.

Second-Half Breakthrough Secures Three Points

The home side increased their attacking tempo after the restart. Phili forced a save from Sekhukhune goalkeeper Toaster Nsabata in the 54th minute with a long-range shot.

The pressure paid off in the 63rd minute. Chiefs constructed a smooth passing sequence, resulting in Phili assisting Luke Baartman. The striker finished with a low shot to score his first goal for the club.

Sekhukhune attempted to equalize late in the game. Substitute Lehlohonolo Mojela created a chance inside the penalty area in the 82nd minute. His shot went directly to Petersen.

Kaizer Chiefs doubled their advantage two minutes later. Siphesihle Ndlovu provided a through ball to fellow substitute Mduduzi Shabalala. Shabalala finished calmly to seal the 2-0 win.
