Technical changes appear to be underway at Naturena. Reports indicate that Kaizer Chiefs have taken steps to secure the future of two technical team members.
The current contracts for the technical staff expire in June. According to an insider source from Soccer Laduma, goalkeeper coach Ilyes Mzoughi and conditioning coach Safi Majdi have been offered new two-year deals. If signed, these contracts will run from July 2026 until June 2028.
The decision reportedly reflects the club’s satisfaction with the individual contributions made in the goalkeeping and physical conditioning departments this season.
Uncertainty for Interim Co-Coaches
While the backroom staff options are being sorted, the future of the head coaching roles remains undecided. Co-coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef see their contracts expire at the end of the season.
Both coaches took over on an interim basis after the early-season departure of Nasreddine Nabi. Their original mandate was to lead the team until the conclusion of the current campaign.
The club insider noted that no concrete decisions have been made regarding the co-coaches yet. However, developments might occur before the final match of the season against Chippa United on Saturday.
A Wider Structural Perspective
Football clubs often look for continuity in specialized departments like goalkeeping and fitness, even during managerial transitions. Securing Mzoughi and Majdi suggest that management values stability in player development. It also allows the club to maintain a baseline of sports science and player readiness, regardless of who takes the head coach position next season.
