Mamelodi Sundowns striker Iqraam Rayners is steadily closing in on a major personal milestone in South African football.

Following a goal in Mamelodi Sundowns FC‘s 4-1 victory against Durban City Football Club, the forward continues his push toward the 100-goal mark in top-flight football.

According to a report by kickoff.com, Rayners has now surpassed Bernard Parker on the PSL all-time scoring charts.

Climbing the Scoring Charts

Rayners’ latest goal moved his career tally to 87 top-flight strikes, putting him one goal behind Katlego Mashego (88).

To reach the 100-goal benchmark, he requires 13 more goals. Ahead of him on the path are:

  • Katlego Mashego (88 goals)
  • Wilfred Mugeyi and Lehlohonolo Majoro (91 goals each)
  • Khama Billiat (97 goals)

Among the players ahead of him, only Billiat remains active, currently featuring for Scottland FC in Zimbabwe.

Exclusions and Milestones

Rayners spent several early career seasons in the second-tier division. His 19 goals during the 2018/19 campaign with Stellenbosch FC, as well as his tally with Santos, are excluded from the top-tier rankings. Official records only include goals scored for top-division clubs across all official competitions since August 1996.

Commenting on his form, Rayners emphasized his focus on team results:

“It always feels good to score goals and whenever I get an opportunity to play, I make use of it. Always coming, helping the team and winning games so for me it is a good feeling.”

Context in PSL History

Only seven players have ever achieved 100 or more goals for South African top-flight clubs:

  • Peter Shalulile leads the all-time list with 134 goals.
  • Bradley Grobler follows with 130 goals.
  • Siyabonga Nomvethe (129), Daniel Mudau (110), Mabhudi Khenyeza (110), Manuel ‘Tico-Tico’ Bucuane (104), and Collins Mbesuma (103) complete the historic group.

Grobler remains the only other active player on the list following his move to Stellenbosch FC earlier this season. Rayners’ ongoing form places him in a strong position to potentially become the eighth player to reach triple digits in PSL history.
