Mamelodi Sundowns forward Iqraam Rayners continues his climb up the all-time Premier Soccer League (PSL) scoring ranks. The 30-year-old striker scored a brace on Tuesday evening during a 4-1 victory against Richards Bay FC.
This performance brought his career tally to 86 goals across all official competitions for top-flight South African clubs. As reported by kickoff.com, this milestone puts him level with retired South African international Bernard Parker.
The Path to 100 Goals
Reaching the 100-goal mark remains a rare achievement in domestic football. Rayners now sits within sight of several prominent names on the all-time scoring list:
- Katlego Mashego: 88 goals
- Wilfred Mugeyi: 91 goals
- Lehlohonolo Majoro: 91 goals
- Khama Billiat: 97 goals
Among these players, only Billiat remains active, though he currently plays in Zimbabwe.
Rayners spent several early seasons in the second tier with Santos and Stellenbosch FC. His 19 goals during Stellenbosch’s 2018/19 promotion campaign do not count toward his top-flight total. Official PSL records only count goals scored for top-division teams in top-tier competitions.
The Elite Triple-Digit Club
Only seven players have reached 100 or more goals for South African top-flight clubs since the PSL started in August 1996:
- Peter Shalulile: 134 goals
- Bradley Grobler: 130 goals
- Siyabonga Nomvethe: 129 goals
- Daniel Mudau: 110 goals
- Mabhudi Khenyeza: 110 goals
- Manuel ‘Tico-Tico’ Bucuane: 104 goals
- Collins Mbesuma: 103 goals
Grobler is the only other active player on this list following his move to Stellenbosch at the start of the season.
Rayners’ consistent finishing makes him the primary active candidate to join this group next. His current goal scoring form suggests that entering the 100-goal club remains an achievable milestone in the near future.
