Debutant Faiz Abrahams made an instant impact for Kaizer Chiefs in their dramatic 3-2 victory over Siwelele FC at a packed Dobsonville Stadium. The 21-year-old stepped up as a super-sub to deliver the decisive moment that kept Amakhosi’s domestic campaign on track.

The Glamour Boys took the lead through Mfundo Vilakazi in the 30th minute. Wandile Duba doubled the advantage after 65 minutes. Siwelele responded straight away through Aphiwe Baliti. However, Abrahams restored the cushion in the 77th minute. His powerful free-kick deflected off goalkeeper Samukelo Xulu into the net. A late stoppage-time goal from Siwelele’s Michel N’Guessan was not enough to deny the Soweto giants all three points.

Speaking to his club’s media, the wide man revealed the crucial advice he received just before taking the decisive set-piece.

“When I went to take the free kick, Duba told me not to cross the ball for anyone but to try and score,” Abrahams said. “It felt great because I have been working very hard. I’m just going to keep working hard and giving my all in training. I aim to stay consistent and always keep my performance levels up.”

A Fight for Starting Places

Head coach Fernando da Cruz has placed strong belief in the loanee. The coach instructed him upon arrival to focus on creating chances. Despite his match-winning contribution, the youngster faces stiff competition for a regular starting spot. He must battle Mfundo Vilakazi, Pule Mmodi, and Ethan Chislett for a place in the starting XI.

This internal competition highlights the growing depth within the squad. It forces broad attacking options to stay at their absolute best. You can check out full match insights and future fixture analysis on our predictions section.

Amakhosi now look to build on this momentum. They prepare for their next Betway Premiership fixture against Polokwane City FC at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.
