Bet on Colombia to Win
Colombia are a stronger and more experienced team than Panama. Panama have done well to advance to the quarter-finals of the Copa America and have fared better than continental neighbours Mexico and the USA in this event. However, Colombia should prove to be too strong for them. This should be a comfortable win for Colombia whose South American flair will pose problems to Colombia.
Bet on Colombia to Win 2-0
Colombia have a solid defence and this could prove to be too difficult to breach for Panama. Colombia’s defence has so far been tight in this tournament as they have conceded only two goals. They kept a clean sheet in their 3-0 win over North American heavyweights Costa Rica.
The teams have played three times before with Colombia winning twice and Panama once. The teams last played in May 2007, a game which Colombia won 4-0. The South Americans should win this again.
Bet on James Rodriguez to Score
Rodriguez may be a veteran now but the veteran is key to Colombia’s chances of winning this competition. His intelligence and awareness will be difficult to contain for the Panama defence and there is a strong chance that he will score at least one goal in this game.
What the Coaches Say?
Colombia coach Nestor Lorenzo was happy with the way that his side played in their 1-1 draw with Brazil. He is hoping that they can produce a similar type of performance against Panama.
“This was a match that we all wanted to have our strong moments of play, and I think we have taken another step forward,” he said.
“With Brazil, you cannot be careless not even one second.”
“There’s a sense of satisfaction after playing such a strong opponent. Now we need to think about Panama.”
