A potential move to North Africa has failed to materialise for Nigerian striker Chibuike Ohizu. As reported by kickoff.com, the 29-year-old forward will continue his career at Sekhukhune United FC.
This is not the first time a deal involving the player has fallen through. Two years ago, Algerian champions MC Alger showed keen interest in the striker. However, negotiations broke down because the Algerian side offered only half of what the South African club expected.
A Recurring Pattern in Transfer Negotiations
This time around, interest emerged from a Libyan club competing in CAF club competitions. Once again, discussions took place between the parties, but no final agreement was reached.
These failed negotiations reflect a broader trend in football transfers. Financial disagreements and valuation gaps frequently prevent player movements between South African teams and North African leagues.
Current Status and Squad Role
Ohizu will now focus on fulfilling his contractual duties. Crucially, he is registered to play as a non-foreigner this season after receiving his permanent residence permit.
The paperwork process delayed his initial availability. He missed all seven matches played by his team during August before becoming eligible in September.
