Orlando Pirates have quickly shifted focus back to the Betway Premiership following their recent MTN8 final heartbreak.

The Buccaneers suffered a 2-0 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns FC on Saturday. Goals from Teboho Mokoena and Iqraam Rayners ended their hopes of lifting the trophy for a fifth consecutive season.

However, Abdeslam Ouaddou’s side must now regroup immediately as they prepare to host TS Galaxy FC at the Orlando Amstel Arena.

Moving Past the MTN8 Disappointment

Assistant coach Rayaan Jacobs provided key insights into the team’s mindset following the cup final defeat. He stressed that the squad has no time to dwell on past results.

According to reports from kickoff.com, Jacobs noted:

“Back to business, I mean, no time to rest, got to pick up the pieces and go again. We’ve got to show some bounce back ability tomorrow evening.”

The technical staff implemented extended recovery sessions for the starting lineup while putting the remaining squad members through intensive training.

Tactical Analysis and Home Advantage

Facing TS Galaxy presents a unique tactical challenge for Pirates. The visitors have demonstrated strong away form throughout the campaign. Conversely, Pirates maintain a solid home record at Orlando.

Jacobs confirmed that the coaching staff evaluated both their own weak points and the opposition’s strategic patterns ahead of kick-off.

“We’ve looked into the opponent. We’ve looked into ourselves. We found areas where we can improve and we’re good to go. We expect to get all three points tomorrow.”

Maintaining consistency in domestic competition remains crucial for top-flight teams navigating cup setbacks. A decisive victory on Tuesday would restore momentum and keep Pirates firmly on track in the league standings.
