Bet on Portugal to win

Portugal have a formidable attack and this is perhaps Cristiano Ronaldo’s last ever chance to win the European Championship for a second time in his career. Portugal were impressive in their opening 2-1 win over the Czech Republic. For much of the game, the Czech’s sat back and absorbed the pressure but in the end, they gave in against the Portugal world-class attack.

Turkey’s defence is not as firm as that of the Czech Republic and hence, it is easy to see the Selecao prevailing in this game.

Bet on Portugal to win 2-1

Portugal have a world-class attack but their defence has a few flaws, being spearheaded by 41-year-old Pepe who is passed his prime. With the likes of Hakan Calhanoglou and Arda Guler within their team, Turkey have attackers who can cause problems to the Portugal defence and they may well succeed in finding at least one goal in this game.

Bet on Cristiano Ronaldo to score

Ronaldo did not score in Portugal’s 2-1 win over the Czech Republic but it is still probably just a matter of time before he does succeed in finding the back of the net. Turkey will find it hard to avoid conceding set-pieces in this game, especially against the tricky nature of Bernardo Silva and Bruno Fernandes. Up will step up Ronaldo to take those set-pieces and he could find the back of the net.

What the coaches say?

Portugal boss Roberto Martinez hailed the way that his side fought back in their 2-1 victory over the Czech Republic.

“We are a country of 10 million but we have a huge amount of players in the (European) top-five leagues,” said Martinez.

“That’s a strength and a weakness. If you don’t use it well, it can become 26 individuals trying to show their own thing.”
