Bet on Germany to win

Hungary could make life difficult for Germany. Even though Germany started their campaign with a convincing win over Scotland, they will face a tougher test in this game. Germany have not beaten Hungary in their last three games against them. The teams last met in September 2022 as Hungary went on to record a 1-0 win in that game.

Nevertheless, Germany tend to overachieve when they play on home soil. They have a better side than Hungary on paper. The hosts can be expected to do the basics right in this game and come out of it with a hard-fought win.

Bet on Germany to win 2-1

Hungary will try to make life as difficult as possible for Germany in this game and should succeed in doing that. Germany are hosting this tournament and have a good squad, even though they have underachieved in major international competitions over the last ten years. One can expect the Germans to dominate this game in terms of possession. Hungary will have their own fair amount of chances and may score one goal against the run of play. However, Germanyโ€™s 12th man, i.e the fans will do their bit in this game and help motivate their beloved nation to a narrow win.

Bet on Kai Havertz to score

Havertz caused big problems to Scotland in Germanyโ€™s campaign opener and will try to carry on his good form in this game. He is high in confidence after having also come off a good season with Arsenal who he helped challenge for the Premier League last season. There is a solid chance that he will find the back of the net at least once in this game.

What the coaches say

Germany coach  Julian Nagelsmann believes that his teamโ€™s opening win over Scotland was their first step towards having a good tournament.

“The team is conscious that this was a first step,” the German said as quoted by SuperSport.

“But it was very good and very important and was something that we can build on.”

Hungary coach Marco Rossi has challenged his players to embrace the higher than usual expectations placed on them.

“I think my players feel the expectations, the hype and the pressure. It is a tournament which will be watched all over the world,” Rossi said as quoted by SuperSport.

“We would like to be the protagonists, to give joy and happiness to our supporters.

“These are not matches between friends. We have this pressure and it is unavoidable. But it is important to keep the focus on what we need to do, not on ifs and buts.”
